The vicar of Holy Trinity, Penn and St Margaret’s, Tylers Green said yesterday the churches were suspending “in person” services until further notice. Some services with a restricted congregation were held over Christmas but the Rev. Mike Bisset said: “It is right we should play our part in doing all we can to stop any possibility of cross infection through our Sunday services.” Online services are being recorded and available through the church website.
Penn and Tylers Green Football Club has suspended all training among all age groups even though the club has been advised it would be permissible. The Hellenic League, in which the club’s senior team plays, has suspended all fixtures until at least 15 January.
Although the Government changed its mind yesterday and closed all primary schools in London until 18 January, primary schools in Buckinghamshire – with the exception of Milton Keynes – are expected to return as normal next week. Anita Cranmer, Buckinghamshire cabinet member for education, said yesterday guidance had been issued to local primary schools. Tylers Green and Manor Farm primary schools are due to return on Tuesday.
Arrangements to Covid test Year 11 and 13 pupils at local secondary schools, including Sir William Ramsay, Holmer Green and the RGS, are being made next week. Pupils are being told not arrive at school for a test unless they have been asked to do so. Arrangements are being made to test senior school staff weekly from 18 January when all secondary school pupils are due to return.
Another 652 new Covid cases were reported throughout Buckinghamshire yesterday – the highest daily rate so far – according to Government figures. The age group with the highest rate of infection are those aged between 20 and 24. In neighbouring Berkshire a record 1,147 new cases were reported in the 24 hours to midnight on New Year’s Eve.
