BUCKINGHAMSHIRE Council today clarified its advice to residents who live in the HP10 postcode area in Penn, Tylers Green and Hazlemere following confusion over whether they should get a Covid test.
Yesterday, following the confirmation of a Covid case involving the South African variant in Wooburn Green, the council repeated wording in a press release issued by national health authorities saying: “We are encouraging every person living and working in the HP10 postcode area, over the age of 16, to take a PCR Covid-19 test this week, even if they are not showing symptoms.”
Today, however, the council admitted the advice was confusing.
A spokesperson said: “We have referred in our own communications to the Wooburn Green area of the HP10 postcode.
“What we are saying is: ‘To check if you are within the area being tested please refer to the postcode checker here – https://www.buckinghamshire.gov.uk/news/surge-testing-taking-place-in-wooburn-green-area-to-control-spread-of-covid-19-varient/ – people can then see if they actually live/work within the surge testing area’.”
People in Penn and Tylers Green who have checked the postcode checker this morning are told we are not in the area where surge testing is necessary.
Meanwhile, door to door deliveries of testing kits are being made to specific postcode addresses in Wooburn Green and Flackwell Heath over the next few days.
Of course those in our immediate area with Covid symptoms should still book a Covid test.
