Post box sealed amid safety claim – Royal Mail yesterday carried out its earlier threat to seal a post box in the centre of Tylers Green. Last week it posted a notice on the box in Church Road, at the top of the back common, saying dogs persistently urinating on the box posed a health risk to postmen and women. Yesterday the box was sealed with a new notice saying the box was closed for the safety of all post people.
There was considerable scepticism from residents when the announcement was posted on the Penn and Tylers Green/Hazlemere community Facebook page. Some years ago Royal Mail said it may discontinue the box when the post office nearby closed. The company has promised a more detailed response early next week.
