Countryside education – Local farmers have joined a call by the Country Land and Business Association for the Countryside Code to be taught in schools. It comes after reports of increased littering, fly-tipping and uncontrolled dogs in the countryside around Penn during the lockdown. Farmers have already put up extra signs asking cyclists not to use footpaths but stick to permitted bridlepaths.
School expansion – A major expansion to Holmer Green Senior School was agreed this week. A new sports hall, music rooms and teaching block will enable to school to take an additional 265 pupils. A number of new homes are planned in the school’s catchment area in the next few years.
Speeding motorists – Police held a speed check in Church Road, Penn on Monday morning and in just over an hour prosecuted eight motorists for breaking the 30mph limit and warned 10 others.
School status – Curzon School in Penn Street has taken on academy status which means it is now no longer overseen by the Buckinghamshire education authority but is run independently as part of the charitable company, the Oxford Diocesan Bucks Schools Trust.
